Jim and Darlene Gray, the owners of Cozy Cat Farm Gifts For Ewe, take enormous pride in maintaining a shop that changes constantly with the inclusion of surprising, hard-to-find merchandise and a friendly staff to help you find that perfect gift. They are happy to fill custom orders and will do everything they can to make your shopping pleasurable.

Darlene established Cozy Cat Farm in 1988 at her home ten miles north of Ellsworth, Maine. In 1997, she opened a gift shop here. Three years later, Darlene and partner Jim Gray moved the shop to downtown Ellsworth. Then in 2003 they migrated to Route 1A, the Bangor Road, before moving to their present location on Village Green Way in Southwest Harbor.

In May 2002 Jim and Darlene received the Chamber of Commerce New Buisness of the Year Award. This award was based on their positive impact on Ellsworth and Hancock County.

Darlene is a well known hand-spinner and hand-knitter who once spent several months in Kinross, Scotland, studying with world-famous spinner Mabel Ross. While there Darlene purchased a spinning wheel designed by Royal Woodturners especially for Ross.
If you can describe what you want, Darlene can usually make it.

Darlene and Jim can be seen at many local craft fairs, and always at the Blue Hill Fair where Darlene can be found selling her unique hats and beautiful hand-spun yarn in the spinners tent located by the livestock show ring where daughter Cassie shows her sheep.

About Romney Sheep

Rams weigh from 200 to 300 pounds.  The ewes weigh from 150 to 200 pounds.
Their wool is one of the most desired by handspinners due to the lustrous fleece which hangs in separate locks for easy cleaning and wool preparation.
Low grease content of Romney wool makes the weight loss of washed fleeces minimal.

About our Cats

Cats at Cozy Cat Farm — usually at least a dozen — come in many sizes and colors.
